The Morocco Avocado Summit returns to Larache

The Moroccan Avocado Summit will hold its second edition in Larache on 15 October 2026, and this year the event is taking on a distinctly international character, according to Zakaria Elyamlahi, a member of the summit’s organizing committee.

“After successfully bringing together national stakeholders and various players in the value chain during our first edition, which drew more than 240 participants, the event is now taking on an international dimension for its second edition. Several international participants have already confirmed their attendance, coming from the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, and France, as well as other regions representing the main markets for Moroccan avocados. Our goal is to provide a platform for partners already involved in the Moroccan avocado industry and to give them direct line to what is happening here on the ground.”

The second edition of the summit focuses on the pressing issues currently impacting the Moroccan avocado sector, according to Elyamlahi: “This year, we are working on the theme ‘Yields, Trends, and Sustainability,’ bringing together producers, exporters, researchers, policymakers, technology companies, and international experts to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of Morocco’s avocado sector. Throughout the program, participants will discuss the latest advances in agronomy, precision agriculture, irrigation management, varietal performance, climate change adaptation, postharvest handling, certification, and export logistics.”

“The timing of the summit, held just before the start of the harvest, gives us the opportunity to present clear forecasts as well as accurate and up-to-date information on expected volumes and pricing dynamics. This pre-season positioning is precisely what makes the event relevant for international buyers seeking early visibility into supply before engaging in negotiations for the season ahead. The summit will also provide an opportunity for B2B networking between Moroccan and international operators involved in the marketing of Moroccan avocados,” he adds.

This international outreach is equally beneficial in the opposite direction, Elyamlahi continues. “As Moroccan operators, we also need to listen to overseas professionals and experts and benefit from their practical knowledge and perspective at the other end of the supply chain, which ultimately helps us strengthen the competitiveness of Moroccan products in global markets.”

“As Morocco continues to consolidate its position among the most dynamic Mediterranean countries in terms of avocado cultivation and export, our ambition with this second edition is to position the country as an innovative, competitive, and sustainable player within the global avocado industry, and to welcome our partners to Larache so they can be part of this momentum.”
