Georgia raises imports of Azerbaijani juices and watermelons

In January-June 2026, Georgia imported 2,876 tonnes of fruit and vegetable juices worth $6.92 million from all supplier countries, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia. Compared with the same period of 2025, the value of imports fell by 10%, while the volume increased by 1.5%.

Azerbaijan supplied 640.4 tonnes of fruit and vegetable juices worth $997,000 to Georgia during the period. This was 5.8 times higher in value and 5 times higher in volume year-on-year, making Azerbaijan the second-largest supplier in this category.

Other main suppliers were Turkey with 414 tonnes worth $1.65 million, Austria with 120 tonnes worth $742,000, the Netherlands with 167 tonnes worth $717,000, and Ukraine with 382 tonnes worth $471,000.

Georgia also imported 9,568 tonnes of watermelons worth $2.9 million in the first half of 2026, up 0.1% in volume and 0.3% in value compared with a year earlier.

Iran was the leading watermelon supplier with 4,824 tonnes worth $1.45 million, followed by Turkey with 4,335 tonnes worth $1.3 million and Uzbekistan with 228 tonnes worth $68,400. Azerbaijan ranked fourth with 166.4 tonnes worth $53,100, while the Netherlands supplied 14 tonnes worth $21,300. Imports of watermelons from Azerbaijan increased by 73% in volume and 71% in value compared with January-June 2025.
