AMHPAC hosts a symposium on agriculture social responsabilities

This is the fourth time in a row and with over 100 participants this year, this year the Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture (AMHPAC) began the Symposium on Social Agricultural Responsibility located in San Luis Potosi. It began on April 27 and is scheduled to conclude on April 28.

This event is held by directors, owners as well as managers and coordinators from the social Agriculture and Responsibility within Baja California, Mexico City, Coahuila, Sinaloa, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacan, Nuevo Leon, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi and many more.

The opening ceremony included representatives from diverse organizations affiliated with the Industry:

Marte Nicolas Vega Roman, the President of CAADES; Antonio Mendizabal Gonzalez, Institutional Link of AHIFORES; Jesus Arevalo Zarco, Director of INTAGRI; Emmanuel Munguia Fernandez, ANEBERRIES Sustainability Coordinator; Jose de Jesus Cortes Balderas Regional Coordinator for AMOCALI Bajio Alfredo Diaz Belmontes, General Director of AMHPAC; Ruben Ramirez, IFPA Representative in Mexico; Juan Ignacio Silos Castro the General Director for Labor and Employment of the STPS of San Luis Potosi; Carlos Alberto Gomez Espinosa, APEAM Social Responsibility Coordinator Esther Escarzaga Garcia, BAMX National Manager for Agricultural Alliances, Hector Aguerrebere the AMHPAC/Farmers Best Northwest Regional Coordinator, and Juan Reyes Rabago AMHPAC Counselor.


Workshops taught by experts

  • United States labor inspection mechanisms and their implementation. Maria Dolores Aguirre Gonzalez, Legal Director / Founding Partner of Foreign Trade and Customs Law of the company Aguirre, Aguirre y Asociados, S.C.
  • Updates on legal issues for the 2022-23 agricultural season. Gustavo H. Robles Balderrama is the Legal Advisor of the AMHPAC.
  • The guide to prevent and detection of forced labor. Nancy Hernandez Martinez. Workforce Officer for the headquarters for the International Labor Organization (ILO) for Mexico as well as Cuba.


Workshops

1. Audits on Social Responsibility and the legal obligations associated with it. Edgar Saul Ramirez Guerrero, Internal Audit Coordinator at Veggies in Mexico.

2. Proper recruitment of the worker. Luz Maria Chombo Tovar, AHIFORES Certification Manager.

3. Legal considerations in employment contracting process for the agricultural worker. Gustavo H. Robles Balderrama is the Legal Advisor of the AMHPAC.


Two master conference

  • Sustainability as a way to improve the sustainability of for businesses. Jose Antonio Rico, National Director of Supply and Agricultural Safety of Herdez Group.
  • Modifying the way in which leadership is conducted. Angel de Luna de la Vega, Founder and Director of La Comarca de los Talentos, S.C.

The goal of the program was to provide training for more than 100 participants across various states in the Mexican Republic, guiding the programme’s content primarily to study the data and keep up-to-date with the latest issues for the sector with respect to social responsibility. The focus was on issues related to labor.
