UK robotics firm has raised PS710,000 to fund its asparagus robot

AutoPickr, a robotics business AutoPickr has just secured a PS710,000 investment in an initial financing round that will help fund the advancement of a robot that is based on farms, Gus. The robot, which was created to help pick asparagus was designed by the father-daughter co-founders Robyn Sands (CEO) as well as Dr. David Sands (senior scientific advisor) together with CEO Kyle James-Keen.

The AutoPickr technology acts as an extremely flexible robotics system which can be used for a variety of agricultural uses. It has reliable robotic arms with advanced computer vision AI as well as a top-of-the-line navigation system and all within the form of a robust automobile.

Gus is completely independent and has a an advanced navigation system which uses UWBS (UWBS) to trace the fields. The robot is able to identify and select asparagus spears from supermarkets and then place them on the tray. It’s battery has a life of between 8 and 10 hours. It has the ability to switch batteries based on the location. AutoPickr is working with commercial manager and grower Scott Rumble since 2019, and values the suggestions and input of growers during the design process.
