The first shipments of Square watermelon begin in Zentsuji, in western Japan

Zentsuji, the capital city Zentsuji in west Japan began this year’s shipment of decorative square watermelons on Monday the cost of each one being around 10000 dollars ($70). Eight farmers are planning to transport about 300 watermelon from Zentsuji until mid-July. When they are harvested, the melons are still not ripe. the watermelons are not fit to eat and are usually sold as decorative items.

The town began producing about fifty years ago as the hope of raising its image, and the watermelon shaped in 18 centimeter cubes, and then planted in square containers after they have reached the size of. There were fewer square watermelon growers was declining over the past few years, however three young farmers appeared in the last year.
