A large supply of Colombian avocados anticipated from November to Super Bowl

The market for avocados is confronted with a variety of challenges this year. The supply of Mexico’s previous avocado crop fell during the months of July and June. In the meantime the harvest of Mexico’s fresh crop was delayed, which led to a shortfall of the product on the market. This resulted in markets were booming over a long period of duration. “Once Mexico’s crop started to pick up volume during September, this was able to help by supplying the market and right currently, we’re taking our supply from Mexico,” says Kraig Loomis of GreenFruit Avocados. Even though rain is likely to disrupt harvesting in the coming months, it is expected for the supply to be ample throughout until the Super Bowl pull.

Colombia

The overall demand for avocados is growing, while supply levels are in flux. “Therefore increasing and getting sourcing from a variety of regions is essential,” said Loomis. “We need to ensure that there is always a supply to our clients.” Although Mexico remains a major source of growth and supply for GreenFruit however, the firm has been focusing more on Colombia over the last few years. Even though there has been delays in the Colombian avocado harvest was deferred, Loomis is expecting to offer promotable quantities of organic and conventional avocados sourced coming from Colombia to be in stock in November and through Super Bowl 2024.

Another location that has had an enormous positive contribution to the GreenFruit avocado program in the year before was California. “It it was our third time we worked together with our grower partners in California and that area was a key component of our plan, especially along the West Coast,” shared Loomis.

Due to shortages Due to the limited supply, prices were very excessive during the summer. “Once supply improved during September, prices began to come down.”

The Global Show
