Minister announces price cuts for vegetables and fruits in Punjab

In Punjab the Information Minister Azma Bokhari announced a reduction in the cost of major fruits and vegetables. According to Bokhari onion as well as tomatoes and potatoes have experienced price cuts of Rs29, Rs24 and Rs22, respectively. other veggies also experiencing reductions of as much as 20 percent. The prices of fruits are also down. Bokhari says that the reduction is due to the efficiency of management district administrators throughout Punjab.

In an effort to ensure that government rates are enforced, efforts to enforce lists have been stepped up and price control magistrates as well as teams enacted across the province. Everyday market inspections conducted of districts coordinators, assistant coordinators and commissioners form part of the new actions. Bokhari spoke of Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawabs’s determination to make essential food items accessible to the masses by highlighting the responsibility of the government to fulfill the expectations of voters.
