For Global Fruit in British Columbia, the cherry season has reached its peak. Harvest is running at full capacity across their growing regions, with colour, size, and eating quality all tracking to premium standards. Availability is strong and consistent, and the teams are packing daily to keep supply steady across every channel.

Harvest & orchard update
“Over the past two weeks, we have harvested an excellent lineup across the region: Santina, Cristallina, Skeena, Lapin, and our signature Rainier cherries,” says Julie McLachlan with Global Fruit. Fruit is coming off the trees in strong condition, with good sizing and outstanding colour and sugar development across all varieties.

Through the remainder of July, the company will continue running Lapin, Skeena, Sweetheart and early Staccato to supply air, sea, and retail programs worldwide. Strong separation between growing regions, combined with peak harvest volume, allows maintaining consistent quality and size across every shipment — whether programs run on air freight, ocean containers, or domestic retail distribution.

Weather outlook: ideal growing conditions
Conditions across the Okanagan and Creston growing regions are ideal for producing premium quality cherries. Warm daytime temperatures paired with cool overnight lows are driving natural sugar accumulation, firm texture, and deep colour development.

“These are ideal cherry conditions, setting up our late-season varieties well in the North Okanagan and Creston Valley sun. We expect consistent, high-quality fruit through the end of August,” McLachlan said.

Rainier — final weeks of the season
For Global Fruit, Rainier cherries will continue for approximately three more weeks, making them the latest Rainier available anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere. For buyers whose customers seek these golden, blush-kissed cherries, this is a limited late-season window to secure premium Rainier volume. “Allocation is limited — if Rainier is part of your program, we recommend confirming volume now.”

Availability & programs
Global Fruit is only now entering peak season, with strong availability expected through the end of August. This gives customers a solid runway to plan volume, secure allocation, and keep programs supplied through the back half of summer. “Whether your program calls for clamshells, bags, or bulk pack sizes in red sweet or Rainier/Blush varieties, we have the fruit and packing flexibility to match your specifications.”
