At Discovery Field Days Twisk 2026, Enza Zaden will focus on how built-in resistance can help growers improve crop reliability, harvest security, and respond to changing demand in the leafy vegetable market.
The event, held in Twisk, the Netherlands, will centre on the theme Resistance Makes the Difference. Visitors will be able to view the company’s open-field leafy portfolio under commercial growing conditions and meet crop specialists and breeding experts. Field demonstrations and technical sessions will examine the role of resistance in crop performance and harvest reliability.

The 2026 edition will place particular emphasis on Nasonovia Nr:0,1 resistance in lettuce. As pest pressure and market requirements continue to change, resistance is becoming an increasingly important breeding trait.
New iceberg lettuce varieties on display will include Lenovia, E01E.13560, E01E.13553, E01E.13554, and E01E.13556. All feature Nasonovia Nr:0,1 resistance and full Bremia resistance. Developed for Dutch growing conditions, the varieties combine balanced plant and head development, head shape, filling speed, and a broad harvest window. They also have short, stable cores and structured ribs to support harvesting.

Each variety is aimed at different production needs. Lenovia combines balanced plant and head development with good head weight. E01E.13560 offers a compact head and harvestability. E01E.13553 produces a larger head suited to processing. E01E.13554 is a medium-sized variety, while E01E.13556 has a strong frame suited to heavier soils and supports a wide harvest window.
In spinach, Enza Zaden will present Kingranch, a dark semi-savoy variety for spring and late summer production. The variety has uniform growth, oval-rounded leaves, thick leaf texture, and resistance to downy mildew (HR: Pe:1-20).
The company says these characteristics support field performance, product quality, and harvest reliability. In organic production, resistance and plant development can also contribute to crop health and reduce reliance on external inputs.
Visitors can also attend technical sessions on Nasonovia, covering current challenges and the role of resistance in lettuce production.
Discovery Field Days Twisk will take place from 22 to 24 September 2026 at Enza Zaden’s demonstration field in Twisk, the Netherlands, and will be open daily from 09:00 to 17:00. Further details will be available through Enza Zaden’s website and local sales teams.
