It is said that the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh is buzzing because the mango season begins. Though the delicious mangoes have already arrived on the markets, local farmers are anticipating that it may take a month for the fruit to mature fully.
The town is located along the national highway connecting Rajahmundry along with Visakhapatnam, Annavaram stands out as an important temple town. The tradition is that mango sale along the route begin in late April each year. But this year saw an early beginning as farmers began to market mangoes by the mid-March period.
Tourists who are traveling along the nation’s highways are taking advantage of mango purchases. They are presented with an array of varieties, of mangoes, including Rasalu, Banginipalli, Kothapalli and Coconut. The scenery is filled with mango orchards with many trees and people cultivating the mangoes of each side of the highway.
Local farmers make money from the ripe or fallen mangoes taking them and crushing them and selling them along the roads. The clever display of the mangoes on specially-designed stands, the mangoes draw numerous customers. Farmers warn, however, that the current harvest could have a minor delay in comparison to last year’s. Although the trees are filled with mangoes there’s an increased chance of falling too early. In the end, some farmers are anticipating the harvest peak to take place in the month of May.
