“We are witnessing accelerating demand from EU markets”

Egyptian growing and exporting company Fruit Link has launched its 2026 mango export campaign, targeting an extended shipping window and a broadening demand map across Europe, Asia, and the food industrial sector. Its export manager, Ahmed Ghoniem, shares his insights on the season’s kick-off.

“We have already kicked off our 2026 mango export campaign this June, sourcing the earliest high-quality varieties from our farms in Upper Egypt, where optimal sunny weather accelerated perfect ripening. However, the peak of our shipping operations and the massive volumes of premium export varieties (such as Naomi, Crimson, Keitt, and Kent) will commence in mid-July, running strongly through August and September. This season, our strategic focus is to extend our export window until November by leveraging late-season foreign varieties,” Ghoniem says.

On demand and competition, Ghoniem is confident. “We anticipate robust and growing demand this season, driven by the exceptional global reputation of Egyptian mangoes for their rich flavor and high Brix levels. While the global market remains highly competitive with supplies from Latin America and Africa, we enter the season with a strong competitive edge.
Beyond our premium quality and strict compliance with smart traceability and coding systems, Egypt’s strategic geographic proximity to Europe and the Middle East grants us a critical logistical advantage in delivery speed and freshness, ensuring we secure a leading market share,” he continues.

Regarding pricing, Ghoniem suggests a stable kick-off to the campaign following a season of strong yields: “Prices at the beginning of the 2026 season are highly stable and competitive compared to last year. Thanks to abundant yields and favorable weather conditions that prevented any abrupt cost spikes, we are offering a well-balanced and aggressive pricing strategy. This price stability reflects the efficiency of our supply chain at Fruit Link and the increased volume of export-grade fruit, rather than any compromise on quality. It presents an excellent opportunity for our international partners to achieve great margins while securing a premium product.”

On the demand map, Ghoniem describes a season of expansion beyond traditional strongholds. “Traditionally, the GCC countries (such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait), Russia, and the UK have been the highest-demand markets for Egyptian mangoes. However, looking at the demand map for this season, we anticipate a significant expansion. We are witnessing accelerating demand from EU markets (particularly Germany and France) seeking premium varieties, alongside successful penetration into new Asian and North African markets.”

“Furthermore, there is a notable surge in demand for frozen mangoes within the agri-food sector this year, a segment we are fully equipped to supply efficiently,” Ghoniem concludes.
