“We are witnessing a noticeable surge in demand for Ghanaian chilies”

Ghanaian chili exporters are seeing a marked increase in interest from European buyers, according to Eding Alexander Paddy, CEO of ADEAF Crystal Enterprise, who will be part of a Ghanaian trade mission travelling to the Netherlands in September.

“We are witnessing a noticeable surge in demand for Ghanaian chilies. It’s clear that buyers in many European markets have a preference for the Ghanaian origin and trust us with their programs of not only chilies but also other products like yam and potatoes,” Paddy states.

According to the exporter, Ghanaian chili has earned its place in European markets for many reasons: “That recognition has been built on consistently high quality. To put it simply, our chilies are spicy. Long shelf life, competitive pricing, and short transit time, of only six hours by air, are other interesting selling arguments. It is also important that we adhere strictly to the required protocols and European market standards.”

“I am joining a trade mission to the Netherlands alongside a dozen other Ghanaian exporters representing a diverse range of products, from chili and habanero to potatoes, yams and others. Immediately after the trade mission, I will be heading to France to finalise and sign a contract with a retailer that has expressed strong interest in our products,” Paddy continues.

France and Germany have been the most dynamic markets for ADEAF Crystal Enterprise this year, the exporter says. “We also want to increase our exports to the Netherlands, a destination we value since it’s an important re-exporting platform,” he adds.

“Demand for our chilies is considerably higher compared to last year, and this means we now need to scale up our production to keep pace with our markets,” the exporter concludes. Paddy will be present as an exhibitor at Fruit Attraction in Madrid.
