Peruvian blueberry exports rise 74% as China’s share falls

Peruvian blueberry exports reached 53.465 tons by week 32 of the 2026/27 campaign, 74% more than during the same period of the previous season. The cumulative volume remains broadly in line with Proarándanos’ August projection, but the distribution among destinations has changed.

The United States and Europe now account for about 68% of shipments, compared with approximately 52% at the same point in 2025/26. China’s share has declined from about one-third last season to 15% this campaign.

Peru shipped 7.827 tons of blueberries to China through week 32, 20% less than during the same period of 2025/26. Between weeks 30 and 32, shipments remained below the corresponding levels of the previous campaign.

China has consequently moved to third place among destinations, behind the United States and Europe. The report identifies changes in shipment volumes but does not establish their causes, so the decline cannot be attributed solely to lower Chinese demand or a structural change in the market.

The United States recorded a 138% increase and now accounts for 43% of Peruvian blueberry exports. Shipments to Europe increased by 108%, giving the region a 25% share.

Almost nine out of every ten additional tons exported by Peru compared with the same point in 2025/26 correspond to increased volumes sent to the United States and Europe. Together, the two markets now represent more than two-thirds of exports, compared with about half a year earlier.

The week 32 snapshot remains subject to change as the campaign progresses toward its peak. The coming weeks will show whether China regains market share or whether the United States and Europe maintain their larger share of Peruvian blueberry exports.
