The Turkish harvest of pomegranates is near to being completed. In the words of Oguzhan Erdogan, Europe sales director of Turkish exporter of fruit Ana Fruit, the start of the year was pretty full for them “The fruit harvest began in the final week of September, and we are nearing the conclusion. Following harvest, we graded the pomegranates we had and then stored inside Modified Atmosphere bags. The first week of the season was quite hectic and there was a lot of demand. The harvest is nearly complete at present and phase storage begins. Because demand was very at its peak during harvest these past few weeks are slow.”

Erdogan says they are expecting to see no changes in their primary export market in the coming year and the European continent being their primary goal. “Our primary source of pomegranates is Europe since around 90% of our production is sold to Europe. The same will be true for the current year, since we’re witnessing EU as our main market for exports. However that, in the meantime we’re trying to increase the market share we have across other nations.”
