
Georgia’s watermelon exports fell sharply in the first half of 2026, while imports remained almost unchanged from a year earlier. According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the country exported 67.4 tonnes of watermelons worth $33,600 in January-June 2026. Export volume was 91% lower than in the same period of 2025, while export value fell by 88%.
The main destinations for Georgian watermelon exports in January-June 2026 were:
- Ukraine: $12,600 / 39.1 tonnes, compared with no exports in the first half of 2025.
- Russia: $13,700 / 22.9 tonnes.
- Armenia: $7,300 / 5.4 tonnes, down from 638.3 tonnes worth $221,300 in the first half of 2025.
Romania: No exports in 2026, compared with 21.3 tonnes worth $14,600 in the first half of 2025.
In contrast to exports, Georgia’s watermelon imports remained virtually unchanged. In the first six months of 2026, the country imported 9,567.5 tonnes worth $2.9 million, compared with 9,560.6 tonnes worth $2.89 million in the same period last year.
The main suppliers of watermelons to Georgia in January-June 2026 were:
- Iran: $1.5 million / 4,823.5 tonnes;
- Turkey: $1.3 million / 4,335.6 tonnes;
- Uzbekistan: $68,400 / 228 tonnes;
- Azerbaijan: $53,100 / 166.4 tonnes;
- the Netherlands: $21,300 / 14 tonnes.
