Farmers’ cooperatives market 92.9 tonnes of pineapples

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 (DA-RFO2) has helped farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) in selling the 92,9 tonnes of pineapples they produce to buyers from institutions within the Philippines. Region 2 DA-AMAD chief Rosario Paccarangan claimed that the sale was an outcome of the implementation of the linkage program for market buyers in the DA among pineapple growers from Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) with local and institutional buyers.

Paccarangan reported that there were at most six farmers’ associations from three provinces: Cagayan, Isabela, and Nueva Vizcaya that were given an opportunity to market the pineapples they grow. In Nueva Vizcaya, Amballo South Agricultural and Pineapple Growers Association from Bagabag town has sold 15,5 tons in the last quarter of 2017 to AgriNurture Inc. in Bulacan.

In Isabela In Isabela Caviteno Isabelino Agricultural Coop of Echague town is increasing sales following the Hilas Marketing Corp. of Taguig City, AgriNurture Inc., FCAs and national governments bought an aggregate of 50,1 tons of pineapples.
