Davao 18 tonnes of durian sent to China

Yesterday yesterday, it was reported that the Department of Agriculture in Davao Region (DA-11) transported 18 tonnes of durian to China. Emmanuel Belviz, president of the Durian Industry Association from Davao City, said China is opening a market for the durian and has included Durian being among the Puyat, D-101, Cob and Duyaya being exported varieties. “This is exactly what we’ve always wanted. Now we can export our durian with a better cost and, as farmers we have to grow good quality durian,” he said.

Belviz stated that the price at the farmgate is PHP45 per kilo , and packaging houses purchase it for PHP80 per kilogram. Exporting durian is in line with the bilateral deal concerning the protocol to export Philippine freshly picked durian to China. Republic of China signed during the State visit of the President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in China on the 3rd of January.
