“China market is a place where good quality Chilean cherries at high prices”

In the wake of lower demand for Chilean cherries from China The company was among the first companies to witness their air freight reach the market and then sell quickly anticipate additional containers to be delivered during the peak time with higher costs. “Fruit which had good quality arrived were bought at a premium. Because of the small quantity of the Cautin Vessel markets, they were happy to get the Chilean cherries. We actually saw sales rates at the same levels as air-borne shipments” According to Claudio Rivadeneira Fernandez, Export Manager Asia of Holding San Clemente in Chile.

The first shipment of cherries came in with a demand that was large and continues to be so. “Yes I’d suggest that the demand is very high. We all know about the Chilean circumstances. The dramatic decrease in volume of the fruit has resulted in these high expectations. The market is moving fast however, it is only for high quality fruits. It’s crucial to note that Chinese market is not going to be demanding poor quality fruits. While there’s a smaller quantity, consumers will only pay for the best fruits only, and costs for the second group will be lower. We, as an industry, should have already been aware of this because a few several years ago, when the China market was quite transparent about this. They only buy excellent cherries. Another category is that is that they could move it however the return are not good.” advises Rivadeneira Fernandez.

The author claims that due to the less than normal volumes of the initial ships to arrive in China it was sold out quickly. “As previously mentioned due to the low quantity of this vessel receivers may travel at an impressive speed. Following vessels remain with low amounts, therefore we anticipate to continue seeing this great circulation for the month of December.”

Rivadeneira Fernandez says Holding San Clemente are not the largest exporter but they are still able to move a fair number of containers in the duration of Chile. The company also has a long-standing brand, called Dragon Label. Dragon Label, which is popular across China.

“We are planning to ship around 300 containers. We’re not the largest and we are not the most efficient, but we strive to improve the quality of the fruits. We own our Dragon Label that is extremely well-known since 15 years ago. Consumers have heard of the brand. Additionally, this Chinese New Year marks the year of the Dragon, so we’ll be promoting the brand along with a few associates across China. The SVA Office is working hard to make this brand prominent in every market or city and not just in Shanghai or Guangzhou as well as those in the cities within. In addition, retail stores are our main focus and we are focusing on providing them with the highest quality service and support with the best products to ensure that they are present anywhere,” concludes Claudio Rivadeneira.
