Avocado export supply in Myanmar reaches 20,000 tons

The Myanmar Avocado Producers and Exporters Association (MAVO) plans to launch domestic marketing campaigns at the start of the 2026-2027 avocado season to increase consumption and expand the domestic market.

Around 20,000 tons of avocados are expected to be available for export this season, with higher-grade fruit allocated to overseas markets. MAVO is working with Thailand and plans to establish connections with additional export markets.

Value-added processing will also take place at Hi Avocado MTD Co Ltd in the Ayethaya Industrial Zone, Shan State, where avocado oil will be extracted. The association is also working to obtain GACC certification for exports to China during the current season.

Myanmar currently exports avocados primarily to China, Thailand, Dubai, and Singapore. MAVO is also connecting member companies with potential markets in India, Malaysia, and Russia.

Hass avocado cultivation in Myanmar covers around 8,094 hectares, with the annual harvest running from September to December. The Ministry of Commerce is working to expand market access and reach an avocado export target of 10,000 tons.
