Agri SA appoints new Chief Executive Chief Executive Officer

Agri SA is pleased to announce the selection to Johann Kotze as their new Chief Executive Chief Executive Officer. Jaco Minnaar is Agri SA President, felicitated Kotze and expressed his joy for the future.

“Kotze’s appointment occurs at an important stage in the development of South Africa. There is a need for leadership in so numerous spheres, including the greater South African society and the agriculture industry. Over the next few years the agriculture industry will need to deal with the impact of issues like changing climate, declining infrastructure, declining service delivery and rural security, as well as shifts in the global market and policy uncertainties.”

Kotze lived as a farmer’s child within the North West province and went into the university to earn an undergraduate degree in the field of Agricultural Economy from the University of Pretoria, a Master’s degree in Management and Administration. Management and Administration, as in addition to an Executive Development Program located at Stellenbosch Business School.

“Kotze is a leader of great imagination who is passionate about farming as well as the sustainable food system. Kotze has extensive experiences as an experienced agricultural banker, and is a well-known figure in organized agriculture,” says Minnaar.

Kotze began his professional career in the field of agriculture and then Kotze was an agricultural banker with Absa Bank. Following his time as a banker for corporate clients in Mozambique Kotze began working as a consultant for business on his own. Kotze was back in banking and headed Africa Agriculture for FNB. In 2017, he held the position of Chief Executive Office for the South African Pig Producers Organisation (SAPPO).

As a community of farmers it is our responsibility to reflect the inherent optimism which South African farmers embody with practical solutions to the complicated problems we confront. In the future, we’ll need to rethink our ideas about what’s realistically achievable within the present business climate and help agriculture leverage relationships with the commercial as well as the international world.”

Kotze begins his new job as a director at Agri SA on 1 October 2023.
