In the stone fruit category, where new product developments are relatively uncommon, the Seville-based company Royal is expanding its range this season with several new varieties aimed at offering consumers different flavors, textures, and formats. The launch includes Royal Flat Gold®, new Pluot® varieties, and the continued growth of Royal Sanguine®.
The Launch of Royal Flat Gold
One of the main additions this season is Royal Flat Gold, Royal’s yellow-fleshed flat fruit in the Pavia style. While the flat fruit market is traditionally dominated by white-fleshed varieties, this new option introduces a yellow-fleshed alternative with a flavor profile closer to that of traditional peaches, combined with the convenience and appearance of flat fruit.

The variety is the result of several years of varietal research focused on combining flavor, texture, and resistance during handling and transport.
As highlighted by Royal’s Management Team: “Not only does it stand out for its flavor, but its flesh is juicy and firm while also melting in the mouth. It eliminates the fibrous texture found in other varieties and delivers the perfect balance between deep sweetness and the aromatic nuances of traditional orchard peaches. Undoubtedly, the new standard in premium flat fruit.”
“With Royal Flat Gold, we are not simply introducing a new variety — we are bringing desire into the stone fruit category. It is something consumers did not even know they were waiting for: visually striking and with a flavor that brings back the essence of truly authentic fruit,” they point out.

Pluot: New Formats and Textures
Royal is also expanding its Pluot range — a natural hybrid between plum and apricot — with two new varieties designed for different consumption occasions.
Cherry Pluot: A small-format fruit (30–40 mm) with high sweetness levels and a crunchy texture. Its size and ease of consumption make it suitable for snacking and on-the-go occasions.

Velvet Pluot: A variety distinguished by its velvety skin, attractive appearance, and sweet flavor profile with low external acidity. Its soft texture and distinctive look position it within the premium segment of the category.
Royal Sanguine Returns with Greater Availability
Following strong demand in previous seasons, Royal Sanguine® returns with increased production volumes and a longer availability window. Known for its deep red flesh and juicy texture, the variety also stands out for its naturally high antioxidant content.

Beyond its visual appeal, Royal highlights its balance between sweetness and acidity as one of the key characteristics contributing to consumer acceptance and repeat purchase.
