Uzbekistan and India are working to accelerate market access for Indian papayas and pineapples, according to EastFruit, citing UzDaily.
Negotiations are underway between Uzbekistan’s Committee for Food Safety and India’s National Plant Protection Organization to establish the phytosanitary requirements needed to authorize imports of these fruits into Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has secured phytosanitary clearance to export pomegranates and hot peppers to India, expanding market access for its agricultural exports.
The discussions form part of bilateral phytosanitary cooperation aimed at facilitating fruit and vegetable trade between the two countries. While Uzbek pomegranates and hot peppers have received approval for entry into India, the requirements for Indian papaya and pineapple exports to Uzbekistan are still being finalized.
