Larger crop for Polish cauliflowers this season

The Polish cauliflower growers are expecting a bigger crop of cauliflowers this season, says Kornelia Lewikowska, purchasing manager for Polish vegetable exporter Green Best: “Everything indicates that there will be a slightly larger cauliflower harvest this year. The winter in Poland was snowy, even though drought occurred in the spring. The weather has been problematic during the spring, as we’ve experienced long periods without rain, cool nights, and even local frosts after transplanting.”

Both the weather conditions and ever-increasing input costs have made the season more difficult for the Polish exporters, but thankfully demand seems to be strong at the moment, Lewikowska explains. “The biggest challenges for cauliflower cultivation in the 2026 season in Poland were mostly a result of the unstable weather as well as the rising production costs that we have to deal with. Thankfully, demand is rather high at the moment. We expect to export significant quantities of cauliflower to the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia this season, as we do every year.”

Overall, Polish growers are selecting new varieties that meet the growing demands of buyers: “Year by year, there is increasing pressure on the quality, color of the cauliflower heads, and the uniformity of the size of pieces in the packaging. Overall, we expect that the upcoming cauliflower season will continue to be demanding for us, but we’ll also be even better prepared than in previous years. Growers will choose varieties that are more disease-resistant, yield more consistently during changing weather, and are suitable for a longer harvest window,” Lewikowska concludes.
