Drewry’s World Container Index up to $2,725 per 40ft of container this week

Drewry’s World Container Index increased 1 percent to $2,725 for a 40ft container in the week of April.


The composite index grew by one percentage to $2,725 per 40ft container in the week that passed and has risen by 55% when compared to the previous week. The current Drewry WCI composite index of $2,725 for 40ft containers is 92% higher than the typical for 2019 (pre-pandemic) rate of $1420.

The median composite index of the past year is $3,230 per 40ft of container that is $519 more than the average for 10 years that was $2,712 (which was increased due to the extraordinary 2020-22 Covid timeframe).
