Cosco Shipping ports posts 6.4% throughput growth

Cosco Shipping Ports Limited (SEHK: 1199) reported its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2025.

Total throughput increased by 6.4% year-on-year to 74.3 million TEU, while equity throughput rose 3.8% to 22.9 million TEU. Revenue was up 13.6% to US$806.0 million, with the share of profits from joint ventures and associates increasing 13.1% to US$175.8 million. Profit attributable to equity holders rose 30.6% to US$181.8 million. A first interim dividend of US$1.928 cents per share was declared.

Performance in China
Throughput at Chinese terminals increased by 5.7% year-on-year to 56.4 million TEU, accounting for 75.9% of group totals. Equity throughput reached 16.1 million TEU, up 1.8%. In the Bohai Rim, throughput grew 6.1% to 25.8 million TEU, with equity throughput stable at 6.6 million TEU. Dalian Container Terminal rose 3.5% to 2.6 million TEU.

The Yangtze River Delta saw a 4.0% rise to 8.4 million TEU, with equity throughput at 2.4 million TEU, up 4.2%. Shanghai Mingdong Container Terminals increased throughput 5.3% to 3.6 million TEU. CSP Wuhan Terminal reported a 41.6% increase to 148,000 TEU. Southeast Coast throughput fell 5.0% to 2.8 million TEU, with equity throughput down 1.8% to 2.1 million TEU.

In the Pearl River Delta, throughput grew 7.0% to 14.6 million TEU, with equity throughput rising 4.2% to 4.1 million TEU. Guangzhou South China Oceangate Terminal reported 3.0 million TEU, up 5.9%. Southwest Coast throughput increased 10.1% to 4.8 million TEU, while equity throughput grew 3.6% to 1.0 million TEU. Growth was driven by Beibu Gulf Port’s expanded shipping networks.

Overseas operations
Overseas terminals reported throughput of 17.9 million TEU, an 8.4% rise, representing 24.1% of the group total. Equity throughput grew 8.7% to 6.7 million TEU.

Piraeus Terminal recorded a throughput of 2.1 million TEU, up 4.9%. Cosco Shipping Ports Spain Holding and subsidiaries increased throughput 5.9% to 1.9 million TEU, while CSP Zeebrugge rose 45.2% to 437,000 TEU.

The company noted continued efforts to improve service networks, attract mainline and feeder services, and strengthen competitiveness across its global operations.
