Bulgaria rejects 16,300 kg of Turkish grapes over pesticide residues

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has prevented a shipment of table grapes from Türkiye from entering the EU market after pesticide residues above permitted maximum levels were detected.

The shipment contained 16,300 kg of table grapes packed in 2,904 crates and was returned to the sender.

Laboratory testing found pesticide residues exceeding the legally permitted maximum residue levels.

The shipment was identified as part of increased BFSA controls on fresh fruit and vegetables. The inspections focus on food safety, traceability, and establishing the origin of products placed on the market.
