Kyrgyzstan has reduced exports of potato by one-third in 2023.

As per the Ministry of Agriculture, the export of quarantined goods in 2023 was up 33.8 percent, and reached 851,499 tonnes, as compared to last year’s 635,281 tonnes.

It is also important to note that the total quantity of exports from January to November 2023 experienced a drastic decrease in the amount of potato exports, by 27.7 percentage.

Uzbekistan became the largest buyer of potatoes, consuming more than 85% of shipment.

Exports of potatoes in dollars equivalent fell by 43.5 percent up to $5.2 million.

Prices for average potatoes fell by 22% to $154.5 per tonne.

The price of potatoes sold on the Kyrgyzstan market in 2023 was 0.51 euros for a kilogram.
