A man who measured the prime beef cuts like bananas is acquitted in the court

Stephen Brennan, 31, has appeared in Longford District Court for stealing the meat of a local supermarket misleading it to appear like bananas at the self-service cash register. The accused was convicted of theft of an entire fillet as well as a roast of beef at Davis SuperValu at two different times, Brennan employed a tactic that involved scanning the meat as cheaper bananas and prices of EUR10.49 as well as EUR13.99.

Sgt. Mark Mahon presented the case and defense lawyer Brid Mimnagh outlined Brennan’s difficult background. This included a long-standing history of foster care, his recently homeless, and difficulties with money, leading to him not being able to pay for the steak legally. Brennan is now residing in Roscommon.
