T&G to handle global sales of Sandher cherries

T&G Global has entered into a new strategic partnership with Sandher Fruit Packers, a Canadian cherry producer, aimed at strengthening the North American and international cherry supply chain. As part of the agreement, T&G will assume responsibility for the sales and marketing of Sandher’s cherry supply under a fully integrated model.

Sandher Fruit Packers is a family-owned grower and packer with operations based in Canada. The collaboration is expected to support the expansion of premium Canadian cherry exports, particularly into Asian markets where T&G has longstanding trade experience. T&G has previously exported more than 250,000 (5kg) boxes annually to countries including Vietnam, Thailand, China, and Taiwan.

According to both companies, the agreement is focused on long-term cooperation and meeting quality standards required in key markets. T&G’s North American cherry program runs from early May through late August, beginning in California, transitioning through Oregon, and concluding with the Canadian season. Sandher’s newer high-elevation orchards are expected to extend the season through mid-September by 2027, providing access to late-season demand.

The companies cite ongoing trade changes, including tariffs between the United States and China, as a factor in emphasizing Canadian-grown cherries. The program is expected to allocate 30% of volumes to the U.S. market, 20% within Canada, and 50% to exports, primarily targeting China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Sandher’s production meets international protocols such as the systems approach, which facilitates compliance with phytosanitary requirements in markets with strict import regulations. T&G states that its approach is focused on ensuring reliable supply, consistent quality, and responsiveness to evolving global trade conditions.
