Mangopoint raises US$1 million for export growth

MangoPoint, an exporter of chemical-free mangoes and mango-based products, has raised US$1 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The round also included The Chennai Angels, Native Angel Network, Keiretsu Forum India, Fondation Botnar, IIM-CAN, Metis Family Office, and JITO Incubation and Innovation Foundation (JIIF).

The funding will be used to expand infrastructure, deepen market penetration globally, strengthen backend operations, and diversify the company’s portfolio of fresh and processed mango products.

Founded in 2018 by Manjula Gandhi Rooban and Prasanna Venkatarathnam, MangoPoint focuses on chemical-free fruit exports. The company’s mangoes are single-origin, naturally ripened, and free from harmful chemicals and calcium carbide, supplying premium markets in North America and Europe.

MangoPoint is the first packhouse in Tamil Nadu to secure dual certification from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO). It has also passed FDA inspections, enabling access to markets in the United States, Europe, China, and other destinations. In addition to fresh produce, the company exports processed mango products to meet year-round demand.

India produces over 24 million metric tons of mangoes annually, accounting for more than half of global production. MangoPoint plans to scale its operations from 2,000 metric tons to 20,000 metric tons annually in the near term. The company prioritises sustainable practices, food safety, and compliance with international quality standards, aligning its operations with rising global demand for transparent and responsibly sourced produce.

The global mango market, valued at US$60 billion and projected to grow at up to 8% CAGR, presents opportunities for exporters able to deliver consistent quality and supply. With backing from strategic investors and an established operational framework, MangoPoint aims to expand India’s share of the premium mango export segment while maintaining compliance with international quality requirements.
