In the transport sector, LEO Global Logistics experienced complete booking of its LEO Reefer Container fleet well ahead of the season start, indicating customer reliance on the service. Present operations have seen LEO execute cargo deliveries via the Laos-China railway, achieving destinations in under two weeks and steadily retrieving empty containers to prepare for subsequent shipments as orders persist.
This year, logistical challenges include complicated customs processes and extended residue testing for components such as Basic Yellow (BY2) and Cadmium, increasing transport duration from 4 to 8-10 days. Cargo volume concentration has led to congestion at the Thai-Laos-China border, influencing timelines. The LEO Reefer Container’s capability to maintain temperature stability is central to preserving durian quality to its endpoint. This emphasizes LEO’s investment framework designed for market distinction.
Collaboration with China Railway International Multimodal Transport (CRCT), a subsidiary of the state-owned China Railway Group, facilitates the coordination of train departures from Laos and the retrieval of empty units from Kunming, optimizing the container cycle and aligning with market demand.
LEO’s strategic planning is supported by previous successful durian rail transport trials, highlighting service expansion potential. Mr. Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, CEO of LEO Global Logistics, expressed the following: “We are proud to be part of driving Thailand’s fruit export, especially durian, which is an important product of our country. We believe that the investment in reefers and the potential development of staff along the transport route will advance Thailand’s logistics capability to the regional level and build long-term sustainability.”
The company remains focused on advancing international rail transport through enhanced temperature technology and robust partnerships across Thailand, Laos, and China, aiming for a sustainable transport framework for agriculture.
