“The Armenian alternative for top fruit and stone fruit can be very competitive and interesting for several markets, especially the Indian market,” said Gegham Gharibyan, UAE Business Development Manager for Armenian producer Fun Fruit, on the sidelines of his participation in Asia Fruit Logistica.

In his large display booth, Gharibyan adds, “We are already established in the international market and have accumulated experience in export and logistics, particularly in the Russian and Middle Eastern markets. Our fruits are highly valued there for their superior quality and very competitive prices compared to other origins.”

“At Fun Fruit, we operate on 300 hectares and produce an annual volume of over 7,500 tons of a wide range of top fruit and stone fruit, such as pears, apples, cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, in addition to grapes. Our stone fruit calendar also offers a competitive edge, running from September until April, and even May. We use international varieties that are well known on the global market,” the exporter continues.

Armenia’s geographical location, as a landlocked country, is not such a serious disadvantage that it hinders exports, according to Gharibyan. He adds, “We deliver by road through Iran within 25 days to reach Middle Eastern markets. This transit time offers good shelf life for the products and remains reasonable for delivering even further afield.”

“We are particularly interested in the Indian market, which is very large and dynamic, and was our main target at Asia Fruit Logistica. We are confident that our fruit, which meets the highest quality standards and is offered at very competitive prices compared to European origins, will be well received in this market. In fact, we were delighted by the large number of visits from Indian professionals to our stand,” the exporter concludes.
