“Pafru expects to export 1,500 containers from Costa Rica between February and May”

At the request of Procomer and the Costa Rican ministries, Pafru S.A. is participating in this year’s Fruit Attraction in Madrid for the first time, with an exclusive presentation in the conference room above Hall 12. The focus of the presentation will be on the new varieties and consumer demand for yellow Charentais, next-generation Cantaloupe, and mini and supermini watermelons from 800 grams.

“We are showing how modern melon growing in Costa Rica is sustainable, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible, while addressing the challenges of climate change, crop protection, and shifting market demand,” says Stefanie Weber.

Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Pafru S.A. has programmed an area of 1,100 hectares with various melon and watermelon varieties of its own crops, with an expected export volume of about 1,500 containers from February to May. “Our focus is on expanding the cultivation of innovative and specialised varieties of mini watermelons and new types of Galia and Cantaloupe melons,” says Stefanie Weber, who has been appointed Pafru’s director of all Central American operations.
