Platinum Fruit is preparing to expand exports of fresh longan to Europe, targeting the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The company is also in negotiations to extend its durian market to northern and northeastern China, while launching a ready-to-serve durian sticky rice line.
Chief Executive Officer Natthakrit Eiamsakul confirmed the plans during Asia Fruit Logistica 2025 in Hong Kong. He noted that Thai fruits, particularly durian and longan, continue to be among the most sought after by international buyers.
Fresh longan clusters have been gaining attention in European markets, where countries such as the UK and the Netherlands have shown increased interest. “In the past, some countries may not have known about them or had never tasted them, but when they tried the premium grade fresh longan that we displayed, they liked the taste,” Eiamsakul said. He added that the fruit’s shelf life helps reduce transport constraints.
Platinum Fruit is also expanding its customer portfolio in India, with details still being finalized. The company’s main longan markets remain Indonesia and China.
Durian remains central to Platinum Fruit’s export focus. Demand from China is strong, particularly for Thai Monthong. The company is negotiating with partners to expand durian distribution to additional Chinese provinces. Eiamsakul stressed that “quality and safety” are priorities for penetrating new markets.
In addition to fresh fruit, Platinum Fruit introduced instant durian sticky rice at the Hong Kong event. The ready-to-eat product has drawn attention from European traders.
The company sources fruit from orchards meeting GAP and Global GAP standards and has invested in cold chain transport to maintain quality throughout the supply chain. Platinum Fruit currently exports to China, Indonesia, India, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
